So When is the Right Time To Change Jobs?

question

Not every time is the right time to change jobs. Before changing jobs, it is important to have started to search, if not already, while being in a secure position. This is because you do not want to be left stranded and future employers become very inquisitive about your unemployment. Your job search will also give you something positive to think about and look forward to rather than dreading every day at work.

The season or time of the year is also a factor to take into consideration when deciding when to change jobs. Each season varies in the volume of vacancies and competition of job roles. Here is how:

  • Spring – this is probably the best time to start your job search as there are opportunities for both temporary and permanent workers. This is because the rush for New Year candidates has lessened.
  • Summer – as many people are on holiday during the summer period there are many opportunities for temporary workers. People looking for more permanent roles also have an easy chance as there is less competition.
  • Autumn – there is a lot of competition during this period. You should make sure your CV is up to date and your online presence is ready for the challenge.
  • Winter – during the lead up to Christmas there are a lot of opportunities for seasonal temporary workers. There are also chances for permanent roles in the New Year, however, it can be quite competitive.

When leaving a job you have to make sure to leave in an appropriate manner. In other words, you should make sure you hand in your resignation letter at the time your employers have specified you to. You shouldn’t be tempted to storm off or make harsh comments due to your frustration because you’ll leave a bad impression of yourself.
