Role:

Candidates to contribute to the work of IYSS and Met Detention by:

  • Meeting with young people at police custody and post custody who are identified as at risk of reoffending and serious youth violence and to ensure individualised support is put in place to reduce any safeguarding/ offending risks
  • To directly support young people who are known to Camden and Met Detention utilising restorative and relational approaches to assessment, planning, delivering and signposting to appropriate intervention-structured group and individual programmes in both a voluntary and statutory services with the aim of reducing offending/reoffending/Serious Youth Violence, becoming NEET and substance misuse.
  • Carry out targeted assessments of young person and to identify the role parenting and whole family intervention has had on a child’s behaviour and be able to work as part of a team in addressing and challenging identified concerns at teachable/reachable moments.
  • Facilitating a process whereby the family group and professional partners arrive at decisions for children and young people (identified in police custody) who are at risk of offending/custody/care Ensuring that all work undertaken with a young person their family/parent/carer is outcome focussed and aligned with any other plan in place for the children.
