Enfield Council are looking for someone for an Assistant Gardener role to cover Enfield.Enfield has over 100 parks and open spaces that are available every day of the year. The Parks include playgrounds, major areas of countryside and sports play pitches. Staff will also be working in Highways and Housing Team and our Cemeteries Maintenance Team. The Parks team require staff to help them to keep them in the excellent condition visitors demand.
Role consists of carrying out maintenance of horticultural features and amenities within the City.
Things the person would do in the role:
To undertake grass cutting duties using hand propelled and/or where appropriate self propelled machines. To undertake shrub bed maintenance work using a range of basic gardening tools.. To maintain sports pitches and bowling greens. To undertake a range of general duties associated with grounds maintenance work, including occasional litter picking, digging and other physical labour.
We are looking for enthusiastic and self motivated individuals with the following skills and experience: Previous experience in grounds maintenance (desirable) Minimum plant knowledge – (desirable) Understanding of Health & Safety – essential Ability to take and understand clear instructions – (essential). Ability to work in all weather conditions – (essential). Ability to complete physical tasks unsupervised- (essential). Customer Care experience / dealing with public – (desirable). Ability to work within a team or as a lone worker – (essential).
Driving licence allowing up to 3.5 tonne (transit tipper) – preferred but not essential.
