Electrical Surveyor

Job Details

Rochdale council are looking for an electrical surveyor to Carry out visual inspections and prescribed electrical tests on electrical installations. Report on the general standard of the installation and identify any dangerous parts of the installation requiring immediate attention.

  • To manage, motivate and direct contractors under his/her direct control. The post holder will be
    responsible for electrical related projects/surveys/inspections or services undertaken by the Property &
    Highways Service.
  • To be responsible for the high quality delivery of all related services in a way which meets the
    requirements of relevant health and safety legislation and the obligations placed on the Council.
  • To manage effective customer relationships that will retain and develop the business.
  • To contribute towards Property & Highways Service’s corporate and social responsibilities including
    policy, procedures and governance arrangements.

. To examine electrical installations and carry out electrical tests to ascertain the condition of
the installation.
2. To identify any dangerous parts of the installation requiring immediate attention.
3. To prepare reports on the condition of electrical installations, validate compliance orrequired recommendations to meet compliance and to attend when required any hearing to justify accordingly
4. To maintain a safe system of working.
5. To ensure compliance with legislative requirements in respect of the inspection of electrical installations.
6. To maintain the integrity of all data on the database.
7. To enter, and validate data.
8. To ensure that the database and contributory systems are maintained and complied with in accordance with the requirements of the Division and with corporate needs.
9. To assist with the future review and development of databases/information systems.
10. To advise and support the Senior Electrical Engineer as appropriate and participate in team working.
11. To ensure a database of information on electrical installations is maintained and kept up to date.
12. To place orders with contractors for electrical repairs, specify extent of work and supervise the completion of the repairs.
13. To estimate the costs for repair work.
14. To liaise with building occupiers as necessary.
15. To undertake asset management surveys, monitor any surveys / reports by consultants
and provide costed condition reports for the AMP database and individual services.
16. To ensure adequate maintenance is in place for building back-up systems
17. To manage energy efficiency schemes and ensure compliance is upheld and applications for energy refunds are maintained
18. To supervise electrical related service contracts and ensure compliance is maintained
19. To monitor contractor payments against works completed and against budget spend
20. To manage electrical service contracts being responsible of monitoring budget and contractor payment
21. Investigating Officer for Building Control and Specialist Technical Support for Environmental Health
