Job Details

  • The post holder is responsible for ensuring that Kensington and Chelsea Health and
    Safety Team protects the residents, workers and visitors health, safety and welfare in
    the borough through the enforcement of health and safety standards in commercial
    premises and work activities
  • As a senior you will work as a subject matter lead and technical expert in the Health
    and Safety Team. This will be through “hands on” casework, keeping abreast of Health
    and Safety matters, motivation and support of colleagues and leading on specific
    projects and subject areas.
  • The postholder is expected to be a knowledgeable decision maker, who builds trust
    with others and works on their own initiative. Use their experience to take responsibility
    for their outputs whilst having knowledge of the bigger picture.
  • The postholder will build and maintain successful relationships inside and outside of
    the Health and Safety Team and possess the ability to socially and professionally
    integrate with others easily, whether this be face-to-face or in a virtual/on-line working
    environment.
  • The postholder will work in various locations, council offices, home and in the field,
    where required.
  • To work within the statutory and policy framework of the council, and in line with the
    highest professional standards, lead in the development of policy and procedures
    within the specialist area. Use innovation and entrepreneurship in pursuit of service
    objectives, to actively promote the service and to educate customers and businesses.
  • To deliver a customer focused, high quality service in accordance with the agreed
    service specifications, business plan, service level agreements and the requirements
    of legislation, delegated powers, Council policy and Standing Orders and officer codes
    of practice.
  • To be the leading source of knowledge in specialist areas of health and safety such as
    legionella, asbestos, working as height, events, public health, service of statutory
    notices, PACE requirements and formal enforcement.
  •  You will be able to provide a high level of technical advice and guidance to the team
    and other stakeholders. Maintain a comprehensive knowledge of all legislation,
    professional development and new initiatives nationally and locally in respect of the
    functions
