Barnsley Council are looking for an Finance Manager To assist the Head of Finance & Performance with professional financial advice to officers, Board members and other staff applying advanced specialist knowledge of housing finance, company financial requirements or commercial management accounting as required.
- To be responsible for the provision of financial services including budget preparation, closing of accounts, preparation of statutory accounts and annual financial statements
- To contribute to the strategic management of Berneslai Homes as part of the Senior Management Team (SMT) and Leadership Forum, and attend these meetings
- To maintain statutory and corporate standards as a key element within the Company’s internal controls assurance framework
- To provide financial information and reports to the Head of Finance & Performance, Executive Management Team (EMT), SMT, the Board and the Council
- Manage and oversee HRA allocated budgets managed by Property Services to deliver the PRIP Contract alongside overseeing Construction Services financial
- Ensure compliance with professional accounting and general financial management regulations, standards and guidance as determined by the Council’s Service Director and Director of Head of Finance & Perform
- To manage the relationship with External Auditors, agreeing the audit arrangements & liaising with External Audit throughout the annual audit.
- To provide benchmarking services ensuring that the outcomes positively reflect the performance of the Company
- To be an effective member of inter- service teams developing and implementing major medium term projects or initiatives as required providing financial support and acting as a critical friend
