Job Details

Role Purpose
An experienced Information Rights Officer with strong technical skills is required to clear the backlog of Social Care SARS and FOIs and support the delivery of a range of upcoming enhancements the Case Management System (icasework) and to support the development of the new operating model across the council.

FOI and SARs
Address the accumulated backlog of Social Care SARS and FOIs. The essential responsibility is improve delivery and uphold the rights of individuals access to personal data and information held by social care services.

New Operating Model
To support the development and implementation of the new operating model designed to streamline and enhance the processing of FOI and SAR requests. This will include collaborating with cross functional teams, supporting of the new design and assisting the development of training materials. The officer will participate with the rollout of the new operating model and monitor its effectiveness by providing performance metrics.

Strong Technical Skills

The officer will leverage their strong technical skills in iCasework or other similar information rights case management systems to support the delivery of improvements upcoming enhancements.

Main Duties / Accountabilities
1. Familiarise yourself with SAR and FOI processes, legal requirements, and internal systems.
2. Evaluate the existing backlog and devise a strategic plan to address it.
3. Begin processing less complex requests to swiftly reduce the backlog.
4. Progress to handling medium-complexity requests as part of the ongoing backlog reduction.
5. Start addressing more complex requests, ensuring thoroughness and compliance.
6. Assess progress and efficiency, adapt strategies based on identified bottlenecks and challenges.
7. Support Implementing the strategic adjustments and continue processing the remaining backlog.
8. Focus on clearing the remaining backlog, with a focus on complex cases.
9. Conduct a comprehensive quality check on processed requests to ensure compliance and accuracy.
10. Complete the processing of any remaining backlog.
11. Prioritise managing new SAR and FOI requests efficiently.
12. Ongoing Tasks: Include daily task tracking and reporting, continuous process improvement, and training and mentoring throughout the programme.

As an Information Governance Officer, you will also be expected to utilise tools and resources such as a Case Management System, Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and maintain up-to-date documentation. Monitoring and evaluation will be done through weekly check-ins, performance metrics, and a feedback mechanism. This role requires a strong focus on information governance and data protection, ensuring all processes and procedures adhere to relevant laws and regulations.

Umbrella hourly rate – £35
