All tools and specialised equipment within the Vehicle Maintenance Workshop and Stores Environment.
The post holder will be responsible for assisting in the identification and undertaking of his/her own training and development requirements in accordance with the Council’s Performance Management Framework.
Perform his/her duties in accordance with Rochdale Council’s Equality and Diversity Policy.

To assist towards ensuring an efficient, quality and cost effective vehicle maintenance facility is provided that meets all legislative, customer and financial requirements.

To work within a performance management framework
To attend any training sessions either on or off the job when instructed by management.
To report any obstacle/problem which prevents allocated tasks being undertaken.
To ensure all tasks are carried out in accordance with Corporate and Service Policies and report any incidents that may cause potential harm or injury.
To work with minimal supervision and to accept responsibility for the direction of work for apprentices and labourers.
To effectively diagnose defects and identify the most cost effective method of rectification appropriate to the relevant skill level.
To carry out site servicing and roadside repairs as required appropriate to the relevant skill level.
To carry out MOT (class IV, V & VII) and Taxi-test duties to the highest possible standard and quality, and to complete all relevant paperwork and documentation.
To complete all paperwork relevant to meet RBC’s records for vehicle servicing etc.
To assist in the training of apprentices.
To carry out auto electrical repairs within competency as and when required.
To carry out minor body repairs within competency as and when required.
To assist in any marketing/public relations event which publicises the working sof Environmental Management or the council as a whole.
To keep up to date with developments in vehicle and plant technology appropriate to the relevant skill level.
To carry out any reasonable tasks as directed by management.
To undertake any other duties and responsibilities of a similar grade as may reasonably be required.
To service, maintain and repair the fleet of RBC vehicles up to 3,500 kg GVW
To service, maintain and repair any other vehicle up to 3,500 kg GVW, when instructed by management, to the highest possible standard and quality.
