The post holder will play a key role in shaping and managing the provision of the
Council’s Housing Solutions Service and Housing Support service ensuring it fulfils its
contractual and legal obligations.
● To ensure the effective and efficient operation of the Housing Solutions and Support
Team, managing all aspects of the housing support, move on, solutions and
homelessness services and ensuring all statutory functions are provided to a high quality
including advice and assistance, homelessness assessment, reviews, placements and
housing under relevant legislation. It will also be responsible for supervising the provision
of a cross tenure resettlement service to vulnerable households
● Work to reduce rough sleeper numbers in the borough through forming good local
relationships with key partners and developing the Rehousing Pathway to focus on
moving people to settled accommodation quickly and continue to develop the rough
sleeping pathway.
● To develop and implement initiatives to assess and record housing need in the Borough,
prevent homelessness, assist single homeless people and promote re-housing
opportunities arising in the private housing sector.
● The post holder will have a key role in relation to safeguarding and joint working with
Adults and Children’s Services.
● To lead on service policy development and service
improvement.
● To raise the profile of the Council’s services and ensure high levels of customer
satisfaction.
● To assist the Corporate Head of Community Housing with all aspects of service planning,
policy support and administration as well as leading on team plans, action plans and reviews of the service, ensuring the implementation of initiatives to improve the solutions and support service
● To lead in the design and delivery of communication, consultation and engagement initiatives
● To prepare reports for and attend meetings of Council Committees as required and to represent the Council as necessary in external working groups
● Ensure clear and appropriate communication and the sharing of data between
external and internal teams, organisations and networks to create opportunities and monitor projects and programmes so appropriate adjustments can be made to keep performance on track
● To produce high quality marketing material, including the relevant pages of the
Council’s website, which promotes the service to colleagues and service users.
● Staff management duties including employee learning and development, recruitment,
identifying training needs, conducting appraisals and regular one to ones with staff
● To provide specialist advice to colleagues within the Council with regards to support
services for vulnerable people and the needs of service users and to provide advice on the impact of legislative change and make recommendations to the Corporate Head of Community Housing on the need for changes in Council policy and procedure and
develop and implement policies and procedures in line with law and best practice.
● To provide active support and guidance to the Housing Solutions and Support Team, ensure that a high quality service is provided to customers, ensuring that performance
meets and exceeds targets and provide statistics for the same
