Job Purpose
To provide a HR support relative to the Operational In-House Services Division of the
Council with specific emphasis on the implementation of the Councils sickness
absence monitoring policy and procedures to ensure the service operates to its
optimum capacity.
MAIN DUTIES
1. Ensure that the Councils sickness absence procedures are managed efficiently and effectively and that the procedures are fully adhered to and that liaison with TU representatives is conducted as appropriate.
2. Ensure managers and other supervisory staff are fully conversant with the sickness absence policy and procedures and have completed the necessary mandatory training. Produce communications to staff, training and awareness briefing as required.
3. Undertake in-depth analysis of the sickness absence data and produce statistical reports for management as required.
4. Ensure reasonableness and equality in all aspects of decision-making relative to the implementation of the sickness absence processes.
5. Ensure that a robust methodology is maintained relative to the sickness absence procedures and that any failure to adhere to the procedures is effectively managed to the ensure future compliance.
6. Liaise with the appropriate officers including Payroll to ensure all reporting procedures and sickness pay records are effectively maintained and records are accurate, amendments must be implemented in a timely manner.
7. Undertake return to work meetings, sickness absence review meetings and any home visits as necessary with the nominated managers.
8. Assist managers in the presentation of sickness absence cases at formal interviews.
9. Manage the effective referral of staff to the onsite Occupational Health Physician / Nurse, Physiotherapist or Counselling Service as required, ensuring adequate documentation is provided to assist the assessment.
10. Attend case management meetings arranged by the OH service as required.
