Hackney council have a new exciting role out and are currently looking for a experience paralegal to provide quality and responsive legal services to clients across the Council and to have responsibility for a personal caseload of routine and some nonroutine matters and t6o work as part of a team.

the main responsibities:

To maintain a caseload of routine and some non-routine matters under supervision.
To provide clear and accurate legal advice to clients in the Council’s services.
To undertake basic advocacy on behalf of the Council in courts and tribunals, where this is part of the work of the team.
To draft legal documentation.
To research and analyse the law.
To attend court with counsel on own cases and those of others in Legal Services.
To deliver briefs and other papers to courts and barristers’ chambers and issue/file documents with Courts.
To comply with the organisations Lexcel practice management standards and manage cases within that framework.
To use the case management system and to record 1200 chargeable hours per annum or such other target as may be set.
To provide any performance data required by the Service promptly and accurately.
To ensure that all work is carried out to the standards required by any formal arrangement with clients.
To play a full part in the team to which the postholder is assigned, attending team meetings, briefings etc and working co-operatively with colleagues.
To notify the Head of Service or Assistant Director of any instructions or events that could result in a breach by the Council or an individual of  any legislation, common law, standing order or rule of propriety or
could constitute maladministration.
To adhere to and to implement the Council’s Health and Safety Policy and agreed Codes of Practice.
To embrace and implement the Council’s Equalities Policy.
To undertake other duties appropriate to the grade and character of the work as may be reasonably required, by the Head of Service or the Assistant Director.
