Islington Graphic Design Internship

Length of placement: 8 weeks 1 July – 23 August 2024

Hours: 35 hours a week.

Monday – Friday 9am to 5pm plus 1 hr unpaid lunch break.

Salary: London Living Wage (£13.15 per hour)

Location of role: Hybrid working

About the role

The role is for someone just starting out at the beginning of their career and we’re open to whatever level of training or experience you are at. We’re looking for an energetic and enthusiastic graphic or digital designer who wants to learn and make an impact in this varied role. You’ll be looking to develop new skills and improve your craft. You’ll be supporting the wider Design team on projects and contributing to the culture of Output. We work flexibly from home and our Islington Town Hall office. We’d hope you could come to the office on a Wednesday and another day each week. We have many different projects being worked on in the studio at once, so you’ll have the opportunity to try different things and get involved in various projects.

Key responsibilities

• Create design work with guidance from the wider team

• Ask questions and seek to learn from the Design team wherever possible

• Push experimentation, innovation and creative excellence wherever relevant

• Develop your presentation skills to confidently present work to the Output design team

• Ensure your projects are organised correctly

• Begin to understand the wider parts of the studio and its operations What they are looking for

• Good communication and presentation skills

• A conceptual thinker with beginner design skills to visualise your ideas

• Some basic knowledge of Adobe software, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop or digital / animation tools would be useful

• Organised and proactive with good attention to detail

• Be interested in emerging trends in design

• A passion for design and ability to learn and develop

• Excited to show us what you can do and proactive to get involved in new things

• Excellent time management
