Working Pattern: Part-time, 15 hours per week
Working Arrangement: Hybrid working is allowed and will be agreed in advance with Line Manager
Length of assignment: Until 31 March 2025, with possibility of extension

West Sussex County Council is establishing a new West Sussex Economic Growth Board (WSEGB), as part of a new partnership to boost sustainable economic growth across the county.

The Board will oversee a new Economic Growth Strategy, which will see a range of initiatives led by the County Council and other organisations to help achieve the strategy’s priorities.

We are seeking a Communications and Marketing Lead to join us to develop and deliver the communications and marketing strategy for the new West Sussex Economic Growth Board, and to oversee and advise on marketing activities associated with economic growth initiatives.

The role will be based in the Economic Growth Team at West Sussex County Council.
An existing Project Support Officer in the team will carry out operational communications and marketing activity.

Main Duties/Responsibilities :

• To deliver a professional and accurate communications and marketing service for the West Sussex Economic Growth Board targeting a broad range of audiences including elected members, senior officers, senior personnel in partner organisations, wider stakeholders and regional and national organisations.
• Provide strategic advice and guidance to the Economic Development Managers on effective delivery of communications and marketing activity for the wider team and initiatives.
• Lead on strategic and day to day delivery of digital platforms, building digital engagement and digital marketing campaigns, Public Relations and partnership marketing.
• Procure and manage relationships with contractors, delivery partners and advertisers, where appropriate, to achieve the Communications and Marketing strategy.
• Contribute to, or lead as appropriate, new communications proposals by providing information about practical application.
• Advising on budgets related to the marketing workstreams of the WSEGB (marketing campaigns, public relations and web site) and on external communications contracts across the wider EGT.
