Job Details
Purpose
1. To provide support, guidance and training to unemployed participants with the aim of improving their chances of gaining sustainable employment.
2. Provide a quality service of housing options, advice and homeless prevention casework to fulfil the authority’s statutory function to prevent homelessness in accordance with Homelessness Reduction Act 2017
3. Ensure the robust processing of homeless applications and appropriate accurate and quality advice is given to prevent all aspects of homelessness in accordance with current legislation having due regard to the code of guidance.
4. Use all available homelessness prevention tools to sustain tenancies or secure suitable, affordable accommodation is available to those who are homeless or threatened with homelessness
5. Promote Council’s website as a knowledge base and the online customer portal
Accountabilities
1. To build relationships with participants and through support and advice help them address any barriers to employment.
2. To have a creative approach to engaging with participants.
3. To be responsible for a caseload of participants, providing a support role and addressing their needs based upon their individual action plans.
4. To work with participants on a one to one or group basis as appropriate.
5. To maintain regular contact with participants on their caseload to offer advice and guidance where needed.
6. To interview participants to gain information and ascertain their requirements.
7. To motivate, encourage and support participants to move towards employments and tailor a package of support to meet their individual needs.
8. To deliver employability and soft skills including confidence and motivation, CV writing, interview techniques, skill checks, digital skills and job search.
9. To maintain participant records in line with the company’s standards.
10. To act as an appropriate role model and deliver a range of actions to motivate and empower participants and to facilitate their growth in confidence, raise aspirations and to assist in the realisation and achievement of their potential.
