Senior Technical Surveyor

Conwy County Borough Council are looking for an Senior surveyor To provide a comprehensive specialist service to members of the public applying for assistance towards the cost of refurbishment and adaptations to their homes.

 

  • Provide a full design and management service from initial inception and survey, through a detailed design process, tendering procedure and onsite supervision through to completion of the agreed works
  • To provide direct management to members of the Housing Improvements Team to include undertaking supervision, PDR’s, sickness absence management, performance management and tackling any conduct issues which may arise
  • To ensure that the work of the Technical Surveyor is carried out to consistent standards, in accordance with the Council’s agreed policies and procedures, in respect of the determination of the fitness for occupation and in relation to the specification of works
  • Inspect survey and risk assess properties and determine the technical feasibility, eligibility and suitability for refurbishment or adaptation
  • Using initiative and imaginative outlook, develop suitable adaptation designs to meet the needs of the client within the scope and context of existing buildings.
  • Responsible for determining the requirement of Planning Approval, Conversation Area Consent, Listed Building Consent, Building Control Approval, Build over agreements and other statutory consents. Liaising and submitting the relevant information required for these statutory bodies in connection with submitted applications
  • To regularly monitor the budgetary position for the Housing Improvements section to ensure sufficient financial resources is available to support the service delivery. Prepare technical and financial reports for Head of Service, Committee and Welsh Government e approval, when required
  • Prepare detailed technical drawings and schedule of works, specifying and sourcing specialist fixtures and fittings to meet the client’s needs. Prepare, procure and collate tender documented. Assess and evaluate submitted tenders for value for money assuring compliance with Housing Services tendering procedures and issue for formal approval.
  • Project manage works on site, carry out stage inspections, issue variations and instructions to the contract in accordance with professional code of practice, to control finances
  • Certifying interim and final payments and checking final accounts for all omissions and variations, and ensure all certifications and warranties are submitted.

Payrate: £22.25 umbrella
