Sheltered Housing Manager

Job Details

To promote, encourage and support the continued independence and well-being of the sheltered housing tenants by monitoring, enabling and meeting the necessary support needs To assess, review and respond to ongoing support needs of sheltered housing tenants appropriately.

The role will develop and maintain constructive relationships with sheltered tenants, carers, partners, service providers and any one from the wider community that is involved with the sheltered scheme The post holder is required to work flexibly, adjusting their own and others’ workloads to meet individual work targets and the priority demands of the team. The post holder will be based in an office environment but will be required to cover other sheltered housing schemes when the situation demands it.

The post holder is required to work in a busy and demanding environment.

The post holder may be required to work outside normal office hours during emergency situations. Communications and working relationships

The post holder will be expected to develop good working relationships with social care and Council colleagues plus external organisations in the health and voluntary sector. The post holder will be expected to display sound professional judgement and work collaboratively across the service to provide advice and support to colleagues. The post holder will need to understand the role of other services in supporting service users.

• Post holders will require excellent communication skills and must have confidence in their ability to deal with aggressive customers as well as coping with stressful situations. queries, applying sound judgement and common sense to problems which are within well defined procedures and guidance.

• The post holder will be expected to work with colleagues to address obstacles to service delivery and will be able to exercise judgement when dealing with making decisions that have a social and financial impact on the Council and customers.

• The post holder will be expected to take a proactive approach to working in a changing environment, addressing delays and signposting service users to other services. • The post holder is expected to manage and make decisions regarding their own workload. Any competing priorities that cannot be resolved on their own should be raised with the Team Leader
