PURPOSE:
Grade 5: To assist in the planning and delivery of occupational skills training to N.V.Q./ VRQ standard and assist in the delivery of Key/Functional skills and technical certificates as directed, assessing and reviewing learner’s progress and maximizing the use of resources.
Grade 6, all of the above plus: To plan and deliver occupational skills training to N.V.Q. / VRQ standard and assist in the delivery of Key/functional skills and technical certificates as directed, assessing and reviewing learner’s progress and maximizing the use of resources.
Grade 7, all of the above plus: To plan, organize and deliver occupational skills training to N.V.Q./VRQ standard and deliver Key/Functional skills and technical certificates needed, assessing and reviewing learner’s progress and maximizing the use of resources.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:

Grade: 5
1. To promote and safeguard the welfare of children, young people and/or vulnerable adults.
2. Assist in ensuring that the vocational area provides a high quality and efficient service which meets the needs of learners and makes full and proper use of available resources in accordance with Funding Body contracts and awarding body requirements.
3. Teach, Train, supervise and develop learners to ensure their working practices meet with approved standards in order that they gain nationally recognized qualifications and the skills and expertise that will enable them to enhance their employment prospects.
4. Deliver quality training to ensure the section meets its retention and achievement targets.
5. Undertake assessment of learners as specified by the relevant awarding bodies and monitor and review learner’s progress, providing support guidance and counselling as appropriate.
6. Assist in organising the control of resources to ensure all stock and equipment is secure, serviceable and regularly accounted for.
7. Assist in the recruitment of learners and undertake initial assessment to identify additional learning needs and assist in the development and implementation of vocational and non- vocational training.
8. Assist in all aspects of personnel management including discipline, timekeeping and welfare of learners.
9. Advise the Lead Teacher in any item affecting the smooth running of the vocational area.
10. Help to maintain training records for all learners and ensure these records meet the requirements of examining bodies, Hull Training and the Funding Bodies.
11. Contribute to the annual cycle of self assessment and continuous improvement in accordance with current Ofsted guidelines and the common inspection framework.
12. The Health and Safety at Work etc. Act 1974 and associated legislation places responsibilities for health and safety on Hull City Council, as your employer and you as an employee of the council. In addition to the Councils overall duties, the post holder has personal responsibility for their own health & safety and that of other employees; additional and more specific responsibilities are identified in the Council’s Corporate H&S policy.
Grade 6, all of the above plus:

GENERAL: The above principal accountabilities are not exhaustive and may vary without changing the character of the job or level of responsibility. The postholder must be flexible to ensure the operational needs of the Council are met. This includes the undertaking of duties of a similar nature and responsibility as and when required, throughout the various work places in the Council.
