About the Role
We are looking for a dedicated and compassionate Support Worker to join our team, supporting asylum seekers, refugees, and other vulnerable individuals to live independently within the community.
This is a rewarding role where you will empower clients to develop essential life skills, maintain their tenancies, and successfully integrate into society. You will play a key part in preventing homelessness and improving outcomes for individuals and families facing complex challenges.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage a caseload of asylum seekers and refugees, providing tailored, holistic support
- Carry out needs assessments and develop person-centred support plans
- Support clients with housing, benefits, health, employment, and English language development
- Assist individuals in maintaining tenancies and preventing homelessness
- Work closely with partners including the Home Office and local services
- Support the transition of clients into independent living and mainstream society
- Engage clients in their communities to reduce isolation and improve wellbeing
- Maintain accurate records, reports, and review meetings
About You
We are looking for someone who is passionate about making a difference and has:
- A Level 4 qualification (or equivalent experience) in a relevant field
- Experience working with vulnerable individuals, ideally within housing, homelessness, or support services
- Knowledge of issues affecting asylum seekers, refugees, and homelessness
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Experience working with partner agencies and multi-disciplinary teams
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and work under pressure
- Confidence in assessing needs and delivering effective support plans
- Understanding of relevant legislation (e.g. homelessness, safeguarding, Care Act)
Additional Requirements
- Ability to travel across the borough and Greater Manchester
- Enhanced DBS check required
