£16.62 PAYE
Predominantly office based. potential for 1 day a week WFH only after candidates are fully embedded in the service.
- Essential experience: Previous homelessness prevention/homelessness officer experience within a local authority setting.
- Key duties: Managing cases from initial assessment through to accommodation placement, including housing needs assessments, triage, referrals, and homelessness case management
- Systems: Experience with LOCATA is highly desirable and would be a significant advantage.
- Candidate profile: Looking for practitioners with solid homelessness knowledge rather than specialist officers. Candidates should be able to hit the ground running with minimal support.
Are you an experienced housing professional who is passionate about helping people find safe and sustainable homes? Rochdale Borough Council is seeking a motivated Homelessness Prevention Officer to join our dedicated Homelessness & Prevention Service.
This is a rewarding opportunity to work at the forefront of homelessness prevention, supporting residents facing housing crises and helping them secure positive outcomes. You’ll manage your own caseload, undertake homelessness assessments, develop Personalised Housing Plans, and work closely with partners across housing, health, social care and the voluntary sector.
No two days are the same. You’ll be working with a diverse range of customers, including young people, families, survivors of domestic abuse, people leaving institutions, and those with complex support needs.
We’re looking for someone with:
- Experience of homelessness prevention and housing casework.
- Knowledge of the Housing Act 1996 and Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Strong assessment, decision-making and case management skills.
- A customer-focused, solution-driven approach.
- The ability to build effective relationships with customers and partner agencies.
