Work Pattern: Office Based, 36 hours per week

PAYE Pay Rate: £21.51 per hour

Job Summary

To deliver building surveying, project management and construction services across Salford City Council’s property portfolio. The role covers projects from design and procurement through to construction and completion, including condition surveys, specifications, contract administration and site inspections.

Main Responsibilities

  • Manage building and construction projects up to £5 million.
  • Undertake condition, defect, dilapidation and DDA surveys.
  • Prepare specifications, cost plans, tender documents and AutoCAD drawings.
  • Manage procurement and contractor tendering.
  • Act as Project Manager and Contract Administrator on projects.
  • Manage JCT/NEC contracts and contractor performance.
  • Monitor project budgets, costs, variations and final accounts.
  • Carry out site inspections and ensure health & safety compliance.
  • Apply CDM, Building Regulations and construction legislation.
  • Manage asset and condition data to support capital investment decisions.
  • Liaise with contractors, consultants, internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget and to required standards.

Essential Requirements

  • BSc in Building Surveying or equivalent.
  • Minimum 3 years’ post-qualification Building Surveying experience.
  • Experience delivering building/construction projects up to £5m.
  • Experience preparing specifications and tender documents.
  • Building surveying, project management and property asset management experience.
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • Experience managing project budgets.
  • Experience with building works procurement and JCT/NEC contracts.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel and Outlook.
  • Knowledge of Health & Safety, CDM and Building Regulations.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage deadlines.
  • Full UK driving licence and ability to travel between sites
