Job Description for Teaching Assistant Role

Salary: £22.91 per hour
Working hours: 2 hours per session, 2 days per week (Term Time Only)
Job Role Summary
- To lead on supporting Children and Young People during a homework after school club session at the Children and Family Hub
- To promote and encourage Children and Young people to participate in various activities at the Children and Family Hub
- To prepare the learning environment and materials in advance
- To work alongside families to support the Children and Young People’s learning needs
- To promote Children and Family Hub services
- To ensure registers are completed alongside any other relevant documentation
Main Duties and Responsibilities
Under the direction of the Head of Centre and/ or Extended Services and Partnership Lead:
- To oversee and support the Children and Young People with their homework
- To supervise the Children and Young People during the session
- To encourage and maintain a positive, nurturing learning environment
- Helping to assist Children and Young People’s progress and to provide feedback
- Be aware of, and comply with, policies and procedures relating to child protection,health and safety and security, confidentiality and data protection, reporting all concerns to an appropriate person
- Support and contribute to the overall ethos/work/aims of the Children and
- Promote high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in accordance with the Children and Family Hub’s behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention
Job requirements:
- Experience of working with children and Young people in an educational setting
- To be qualified to a level 3 NVQ in Education or equivalent
- The ability to form and maintain relationships with Parents, Children and Young People
- The ability to work as part of a team
- The ability to work flexibly to meet demands of the role
- Ability to work on own initiative and to prioritise between conflicting demands
- To follow the policies and procedures of the Local Authority
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- The ability to remain calm in stressful situations
- Knowledge of guidance and requirements around safeguarding children
- Resilient, positive, forward looking and enthusiastic about making a difference ● Capacity to inspire, motivate and challenge children and young people
