About the role
We’re looking for a proactive and commercially-minded Recruitment Business Partner to join our People Services team at Gateshead Council.
This is a key role where you’ll partner with services across the organisation, providing expert recruitment advice and delivering high-quality end-to-end recruitment campaigns. You’ll play a vital part in helping us attract, assess and appoint the best talent, while continuously improving the experience for both candidates and hiring managers.
You’ll work closely with senior stakeholders, contribute to workforce planning, and help shape modern, flexible recruitment approaches that respond to service needs.
What you’ll be doing
Partnering with hiring managers to design and deliver effective recruitment strategies
Managing the full recruitment lifecycle including attraction, selection and onboarding
Developing innovative approaches to candidate attraction, including talent pooling and market engagement
Building strong relationships across the organisation and acting as a trusted advisor on recruitment best practice
Supporting and coaching managers to deliver high-quality, fair and consistent recruitment processes
Using data and insight to improve recruitment outcomes and inform decision-making
What we’re looking for (Essential Criteria)
We’re looking for someone who brings a strong mix of recruitment expertise and business partnering. You will demonstrate:
Proven experience delivering end-to-end recruitment in a fast-paced environment
Including attraction, sourcing, selection and onboarding across a variety of roles.
Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
With the ability to influence, challenge and support managers at all levels in a constructive way.
Ability to develop tailored recruitment strategies based on service needs
Taking a proactive, solutions-focused approach to attracting high-quality candidates.
Experience using recruitment data and insight to improve outcomes
Including monitoring performance, identifying issues and recommending improvements.
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities
While maintaining attention to detail and ensuring a high-quality candidate experience.
Knowledge of recruitment compliance and best practice
Including equality, data protection, and fair selection processes.
