Main Purpose of the Role

To provide effective administrative support to the Housing Solutions team, assisting with selective licensing processes, customer enquiries, and private sector housing services. The role involves supporting residents and landlords, processing applications, maintaining accurate records, and ensuring housing legislation requirements are followed.

Typical Day Overview

  • Responding to telephone and email enquiries from residents, landlords, and customers.
  • Providing advice and guidance on selective licensing and housing-related queries.
  • Supporting the processing and administration of selective licence applications.
  • Updating records, preparing correspondence, and managing confidential information.
  • Assisting colleagues with general administrative tasks and service requests.
  • Signposting customers to relevant support and information services.
  • Working with the Housing Solutions team to deliver an efficient customer-focused service.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Strong administrative and organisational skills with the ability to manage deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and customer service skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information appropriately.
  • Good IT skills, including accurate data entry and use of office systems.
  • Experience dealing with members of the public and providing support or guidance.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Understanding of data protection, equality, and confidentiality requirements.
  • Supporting landlords and tenants with housing enquiries and complaints.
  • Following housing legislation and council procedures when processing licensing applications.
