About the role

We are seeking an experienced Pensions Officer to lead and deliver a high-quality Teachers’ and NHS pensions administration service within the London Borough of Harrow. You will play a key role in ensuring pension processes are accurate, compliant, and delivered to a high standard for employees, schools, and stakeholders.

This is a specialist role where you will provide expert advice, manage complex pension data, and ensure statutory reporting requirements are met in line with legislation and scheme regulations.


Key responsibilities

  • Deliver and manage the Teachers’ and NHS pension administration service
  • Provide expert advice and guidance to employees, schools, and governing bodies
  • Maintain accurate pension records and ensure data integrity across systems (including SAP and pension portals)
  • Complete and submit monthly and statutory pension reports to pension schemes and regulators
  • Investigate and resolve pension queries, errors, and service history issues
  • Calculate and process retirement and pension benefits, including redundancy and ill-health cases
  • Support pension auto-enrolment processes and compliance activities
  • Ensure all work is completed within agreed deadlines and service standards

About you

You will bring:

  • Strong experience in pensions administration, ideally within the public sector
  • In-depth knowledge of Teachers’ Pensions and/or NHS Pension Scheme regulations
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
  • The ability to explain complex pension information clearly to non-specialists
  • High level of accuracy and attention to detail when working with data and systems
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Confidence working with HR/payroll systems such as SAP or similar platforms
