Location: Coventry – Hybrid (2 days per week in the office)
Rate: £160 per day (£21.34 per hour)
Contract: Initial 2-month contract, with potential extension
Hours: 37.5 hours per week
IR35: Inside IR35
Start: ASAP
DBS: Basic DBS required
The Role
Coventry City Council is looking for an experienced BI & Insight Analyst / Data Analyst to support a key data transformation project within Digital & HR Services.
You will help migrate data from the Council’s existing data warehouse into a new Data Lake environment, ensuring data is accurate, reliable and fit for reporting. A significant part of the work will involve HR data, working closely with HR teams and stakeholders across the Council.
Key Responsibilities
- Extract, cleanse, validate and analyse data from multiple sources.
- Support the migration of data into a new Data Lake environment.
- Develop and maintain Power BI dashboards and reports.
- Use SQL to extract and manipulate data.
- Produce performance and management information.
- Analyse large and complex datasets to identify trends and insights.
- Gather reporting requirements from stakeholders and develop appropriate solutions.
- Improve data quality, reporting processes and business intelligence outputs.
- Present complex data and findings clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Quality-assure reports and analysis to ensure accuracy.
Essential Experience
- Previous experience as a Data Analyst, BI Analyst, Insight Analyst, Reporting Analyst or similar.
- Strong Power BI dashboard and reporting experience.
- Good SQL skills.
- Experience working with large and complex datasets.
- Strong data validation, cleansing and analytical skills.
- Excellent attention to detail.
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Ability to turn complex data into clear and meaningful insights.
Desirable
- Experience with Microsoft Fabric.
- Experience working with Data Lakes or Data Warehouses.
- Experience of data migration or ETL processes.
- Previous experience working with HR data.
- Local Authority or wider Public Sector experience.
- Knowledge of council performance and reporting frameworks.
Additional Information
The role is hybrid, with 2 days per week required in Coventry, and equipment will be provided. The recruitment process will involve a two-stage interview, including an online assessment and Teams interview.
