Business Systems Analyst (Finance Systems)

Reporting to: Business Systems Manager

🎯 The Role

We’re looking for a Business Systems Analyst to support and develop our finance systems, including Oracle. You’ll play a key role in ensuring systems are reliable, efficient, and aligned with business needs.

This role sits between IT and the business — working closely with finance teams, stakeholders, and external suppliers to improve systems and resolve issues.

🔧 Key Responsibilities

  • Support and maintain finance systems (including Oracle), ensuring they run effectively day to day
  • Investigate and resolve system issues, acting as an escalation point for more complex problems
  • Work with stakeholders to gather requirements and translate them into system improvements
  • Configure and enhance systems to meet business needs
  • Develop and maintain reports, data extracts, and system outputs
  • Support system upgrades, patches, and new releases — including testing and implementation
  • Work with external suppliers to manage incidents, fixes, and improvements
  • Ensure data integrity, system security, and compliance with internal controls
  • Create and maintain user guides and deliver training to end users
  • Support integration between systems and ensure data flows are accurate

🧠 About You

We’re looking for someone who combines technical understanding with strong communication skills.

Essential:

  • Experience supporting or developing business systems (ideally finance or ERP systems)
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
  • Experience with reporting, data extraction, or data analysis
  • Ability to work with stakeholders and translate business needs into system solutions
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal

Desirable:

  • Experience with Oracle Financials or similar systems
  • Experience working in a public sector or complex organisation
  • Understanding of finance processes
