Job Title: Customer Services Assistant

Role Overview

Provide administrative, customer service, and operational support to help deliver business services, events, and projects across Business Durham. Act as a first point of contact for enquiries while ensuring efficient day-to-day office operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Act as the first point of contact via phone, email, and in person, handling and tracking enquiries.
  • Provide reception and general administrative support across office locations.
  • Support the organisation and delivery of business events, including set-up and attendee management.
  • Maintain office systems, databases, and processes to ensure efficient operations.
  • Arrange meetings, book rooms, coordinate catering, and prepare spaces.
  • Assist with purchase orders, post handling, and general office tasks.
  • Support staff with travel arrangements, documentation, and event coordination.
  • Help prepare reports, presentations, and briefing materials.

Skills & Experience

  • Experience in administration and customer service roles.
  • Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills (e.g. spreadsheets, databases).
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and work both independently and in a team.
  • Friendly, professional, and customer-focused approach.

Additional Information

  • Flexitime available; occasional out-of-hours work may be required.
  • Must be flexible to work across different council sites if needed.
