Damp & Mould Surveyor
Role Overview
We are seeking an experienced Damp & Mould Surveyor to carry out detailed property surveys, diagnose issues relating to damp, condensation and mould, and specify appropriate remedial works across residential properties.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out full property surveys to accurately diagnose damp, condensation and mould, identifying the underlying causes.
- Assess building structures and general building defects that may contribute to damp and mould issues.
- Use appropriate diagnostic and monitoring equipment, including seasonal monitoring where required.
- Produce drawings, floor plans and detailed specifications for remedial and improvement works.
- Obtain competitive prices and arrange works in accordance with appropriate tender and contract procedures.
- Order and manage works through relevant council systems and supervise contractors through to completion.
- Carry out post-inspections, confirm satisfactory completion, authorise payments and investigate invoice queries.
- Ensure all works comply with Council Health & Safety standards and statutory requirements.
- Manage external resources and contractors through PFI/contract arrangements, ensuring best value for the client.
- Respond professionally and empathetically to tenant complaints, compliments and requests for information.
- Work collaboratively with internal services, external partners and contractors.
- Manage your own workload, prioritise cases and resolve technical problems while working to strict deadlines.
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Damp Surveyor, Building Surveyor, Housing Surveyor or similar.
- Strong knowledge of damp, condensation, mould and building defects.
- Understanding of building structures and their impact on damp and mould.
- Experience specifying and overseeing remedial works.
- Ability to work independently and manage competing workloads.
- Excellent communication and tenant/customer liaison skills.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety, statutory requirements and relevant contract/tender procedures.
