Job Title: Educational Psychologist (Main Grade – Consultancy)

Location: Enfield Council, London Borough of Enfield
Service: Educational Psychology Service (EPS)
Grade: Consultancy Rate (Locum / Contract)
Reports to: Deputy Principal / Senior Educational Psychologist

Job Purpose

To provide high-quality psychological assessment, consultation, and statutory advice to support children and young people with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND). The role focuses on improving outcomes through evidence-based psychological practice and contributing to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) in line with statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

Statutory Assessment Work

  • Carry out face-to-face psychological assessments in schools, early years settings, and family homes
  • Provide statutory advice for Education, Health and Care Plans (EHCPs)
  • Attend and contribute to SEND tribunal cases where required
  • Ensure all statutory reports meet legal deadlines and service standards

Consultation & Casework

  • Deliver consultation-based support to schools, families, and professionals
  • Support the graduated approach (Assess, Plan, Do, Review)
  • Contribute to early intervention and preventative casework

Multi-Agency Working

  • Work collaboratively with education, health, and social care professionals
  • Support effective joint working to improve outcomes for children and young people

Reporting & Compliance

  • Produce high-quality psychological reports and maintain accurate case records
  • Ensure compliance with HCPC standards, GDPR, and Local Authority procedures
  • Maintain up-to-date service performance tracking systems

Person Requirements

Essential:

  • HCPC registered Educational Psychologist
  • Honours degree in Psychology + recognised EP qualification
  • Minimum 3 years post-qualification experience
  • Proven experience within a Local Authority Educational Psychology Service
  • Strong experience producing statutory EHCP advice/reports
  • Knowledge of SEND legislation and Code of Practice
  • Ability to work independently and manage statutory deadlines

Desirable:

  • Tribunal experience
  • Multi-agency working experience
  • Experience with therapeutic or intervention approaches
  • Understanding of culturally responsive practice

Additional Requirements

  • Must be able to work face-to-face across Enfield schools and settings
  • Enhanced DBS (children & adults barred lists required)
  • Strong commitment to safeguarding and equality
