Contract: Locum/Sessional Opportunity
Working Pattern: Between 1�5 days per week
Location: Redbridge (schools, family homes, and office locations across the borough)
Service Area: Education and Inclusion � Educational Psychology Team
Reporting to: Principal Educational Psychologists
About the Role
The London Borough of Redbridge is seeking qualified and experienced Educational Psychologists to support the Educational Psychology Service in delivering high-quality statutory SEN work.
This role will focus on contributing psychological advice as part of the Education, Health and Care Needs Assessment (EHCNA) process. You will assess and advise on the strengths, needs, outcomes, and provision required for children and young people, ensuring all work is completed in line with current legislation, statutory duties, and Redbridge quality standards.
You will conduct face-to-face assessments within schools, educational settings, and family homes across the borough and produce high-quality psychological advice using the Redbridge EHC advice template. Two days will be allocated per Educational Psychology advice completed.
Key Responsibilities
- Undertake psychological assessments of children and young people as part of statutory SEN processes.
- Provide clear, evidence-based psychological advice to inform Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs).
- Assess and identify strengths, needs, outcomes, and appropriate provision recommendations.
- Conduct visits to schools, educational settings, and family homes across Redbridge.
- Maintain accurate records and written documentation in accordance with service procedures and confidentiality requirements.
- Work collaboratively with the SEND Team, families, schools, and wider professionals.
- Ensure all reports and advice meet Redbridge quality expectations and statutory deadlines.
- Contribute to inclusive, child-centred practice that supports positive outcomes for children and young people.
About You
We are looking for professionals who can demonstrate:
Essential Qualifications
- Honours Degree in Psychology.
- Postgraduate qualification at Master’s or Doctorate level recognised by the British Psychological Society and the Association of Educational Psychologists as constituting professional training in Educational Psychology.
- Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), or eligibility for registration if newly qualified.
Essential Experience and Knowledge
- Significant experience working with children, young people, families, and educational settings.
- Experience applying psychological theory within educational contexts.
- Detailed knowledge of SEN legislation and current educational psychology practice.
- Experience contributing to Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments.
- Knowledge of a broad range of assessment approaches and intervention strategies.
- Strong commitment to inclusive, anti-discriminatory, and child-centred practice.
- Competence in the use of IT systems for professional practice and administration.
