Position Title: Electrical Engineer
Hours: 35 hours per week, based on 5 days / 7 hours / day. 3 days in the office 2 days WFH
Work Location: Town Hall Extension, Manchester M60 2LA / Hybrid WFH
Manchester City Council’s Capital Programmes Division is responsible for developing and delivering Capital construction Programmes valued at approx. £200m per year across the City. The Division is looking for suitably qualified and experienced Electrical Engineer to work within its M&E project team.
The successful applicant will take responsibility for electrical design, planning, management and delivery of projects and programmes. The work of the Division is diverse and typically includes the maintenance and refurbishment work of: school programmes, listed buildings, art galleries, city centre public realm monuments, national sporting/leisure facilities, infrastructure & fabrication improvements to Manchester’s parks, solar PV installations, decarbonisation schemes and design of the Manchester Christmas Market power scheme.
The applicant should demonstrate experience of working on a range of projects involving electrical design and have a wide range of construction knowledge. This is to be underpinned with a successful track record in the delivery with major refurbishment, new build schemes and inspecting and reporting of defects.
NBS specification software or other similar packages, calculations and feasibility studies on all types of buildings. Additionally, you will also possess a good working knowledge of building and planning legislation, Health & Safety legislation, CDM Regulations, CAD software systems and relevant commercial and contractual experience.
It is desirable that the successful candidate will hold an Electrical Engineering Degree/HND/HNC in a relevant subject or equivalent qualification and demonstratable experience of a recognised engineering apprenticeship and gained 5 years post qualification experience.
