Environmental Health Specialist

Job Details

To undertake the functions assigned to the post of an Environmental Health, Environmental Protection or Trading Standards Practitioner to deliver and promote excellent services to the businesses and people of Cheshire West and Chester and beyond as required. To co-operate with others to embrace and successfully deliver a flexible, joined-up approach to service delivery across Regulatory Services and particularly (but not exclusively) within Environmental Health, Environmental Protection, Trading Standards and Licensing.

Carry out a full or very wide range of environmental health/environmental protection/trading standards inspections, monitoring and/or enforcement duties or have lead operational responsibility in contaminated land in addition to other duties assigned to the post in accordance with Service Development Plans, legislation, codes of practice, best practice and as directed by the section’s management.

 

Develop and maintain an expertise in all areas designated to the post and attend relevant training courses as directed to maintain individual competences.

 

Provide support to all Team Leaders and Lead Environmental Health/Environmental Protection/Trading Standards Practitioners for various areas of specialist work that are relevant to the post and work in close liaison with the other equivalent grades and, in particular, across Regulatory Services.

 

Provide advice and support across a very wide range of complex environmental health/environmental protection/trading standards issues to businesses, individuals and Members to facilitate effective service delivery and to promote a safe and healthy environment in accordance with service standards and the Directorate’s overall strategic direction, policies and objectives.

 

Take a lead role in joint initiatives within Regulatory Services, other Directorates and with external agencies and partners.
