Department: Property Services / Resident Services
Reporting to: Lead Estates Manager

The Role

We are seeking an experienced Estates Surveyor to support the day-to-day management of a diverse council property portfolio, including commercial assets, operational properties, land holdings and development sites.

You will provide professional estates management advice across landlord & tenant matters, tenancy management, lettings, rent collection, lease events, debt management and property compliance, ensuring assets are well managed, income generating and fit for purpose.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied property portfolio, delivering proactive estates management services.
  • Handle landlord & tenant matters including leases, assignments, subletting, licences for alterations, rent reviews and dilapidations.
  • Support lettings, tenancy management, rent collection and debt recovery activities.
  • Liaise with tenants, consultants, contractors and internal stakeholders to resolve property matters and coordinate repairs and compliance works.
  • Provide professional estates advice to support asset management, income generation and service delivery objectives.
  • Maintain accurate property records and ensure compliance with legislation, policies and professional standards.
  • Support budget monitoring, service charge processes and portfolio performance targets.

About You

  • Degree qualified in Estates Management or related property discipline.
  • RICS qualified / membership preferred.
  • Strong experience within Estates Management, ideally in Local Authority / Public Sector property environments.
  • Sound knowledge of Landlord & Tenant law, commercial leases and property case management.
  • Strong negotiation, stakeholder management and problem-solving skills.
  • Commercially minded with the ability to manage competing priorities and deliver results.
