About the Role
Knowsley Children’s Services are seeking an Experienced Social Worker to join our team supporting children with disabilities and their families. This is an exciting opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of children and young people while contributing to the improvement of our Children’s Social Care Services following our recent Ofsted inspection.
You will work as part of a supportive, inclusive team with flexible working options, professional development opportunities, and a focus on well-being.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess, plan, and provide interventions for children with disabilities and their families.
- Conduct safeguarding assessments and participate in child protection processes.
- Work collaboratively with multi-agency partners including health, education, and community services.
- Support families in understanding and accessing services to meet the needs of children.
- Maintain accurate, timely, and legally compliant records and reports.
- Participate in reflective supervision, training, and continuous professional development.
- Contribute to service improvement initiatives within Children’s Social Care Services.
Person Specification / Requirements
- Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
- Demonstrated experience working with children with disabilities or children with complex needs.
- Knowledge of child protection, safeguarding, assessments, care planning, and family support.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build trusting relationships quickly.
- Commitment to professional development and reflective practice.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
Desirable Skills
- Experience in multi-agency working and child protection conferences.
- Knowledge of SEND (Special Educational Needs and Disabilities) frameworks.
- Experience in local authority social care or community-based services.
