Job Title: Grounds Maintenance Operative
Job Summary
We are seeking a reliable and experienced Grounds Maintenance Operative to work on council estates, maintaining grassed areas and shrub beds to a high standard. The role involves a range of outdoor maintenance tasks using powered horticultural machinery. A full driving licence is essential.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out general grounds maintenance on council housing estates
- Mow grassed areas using pedestrian or ride-on mowers
- Trim grass edges and overgrowth using strimmers
- Cut and shape hedges and shrubs using hedge cutters
- Clear leaves, grass cuttings, and debris using blowers
- Maintain clean, safe, and presentable communal outdoor spaces
- Report any hazards, damage, or issues found on site
- Work across multiple sites as directed, often travelling between locations
- Ensure all work is completed safely and to required standards
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience using grounds maintenance machinery (e.g. strimmers, hedge cutters, blowers, mowers)
- Full valid driving licence
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Physically fit and able to carry out manual work
- Basic understanding of health and safety in a work environment
Desirable Skills
- Previous experience working on council estates or public spaces
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Good time management and reliability
