Grounds Maintenance Skilled Operative
Location: Slough
Contract: Temporary / Full Time
Job Purpose
We are seeking an experienced Grounds Maintenance Skilled Operative to help maintain parks, gardens, open spaces, roadsides and public areas across the borough to a high standard.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out a range of grounds maintenance and horticultural duties.
- Maintain parks, gardens, open spaces, roadsides and other public areas.
- Ensure work is completed safely, efficiently and to a high standard.
- Take day-to-day responsibility for allocated work and provide on-site support to a team of up to 5 staff.
- Ensure the safety of colleagues, members of the public and yourself.
- Report hazards, incidents and close calls.
- Use in-cab and handheld devices to update completed work and monitor progress.
- Liaise with the office regarding any issues arising during the working day.
- Ensure gates, barriers and premises are secured after work is completed.
- Safeguard keys and equipment at all times.
- Provide a high standard of customer service and assist with maintaining safe and attractive public spaces.
Requirements
- Previous experience in grounds maintenance, horticulture or landscaping.
- Experience using grounds maintenance equipment and machinery.
- Knowledge of health and safety procedures.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Experience leading or supporting a small team is desirable.
- Relevant horticultural or grounds maintenance qualifications/certificates are advantageous.
