About the role

We are seeking a knowledgeable and proactive Pensions Specialist to manage key elements of the Local Government Pension Scheme (LGPS), with a particular focus on employer admissions, exits, TUPE transfers, and associated legal and actuarial processes.

You will act as a technical expert within the pensions team, ensuring compliance with LGPS regulations while supporting the effective management of pension fund risk and governance.


What you’ll be doing

  • Managing the end-to-end process for employers joining and leaving the LGPS
  • Coordinating legal advisors and actuaries to finalise admission agreements, bonds, and guarantees
  • Ensuring pension implications are correctly embedded within TUPE transfers and service contracts
  • Maintaining accurate records of agreements and bonds, ensuring compliance and timely renewals
  • Acting as a technical expert on LGPS regulations, supporting stakeholders with queries and advice
  • Supporting audits, statutory returns, valuations, and pension policy development
  • Liaising with internal departments and external stakeholders including employers, HR teams, and legal partners
  • Identifying and managing risks associated with employer participation in the pension fund

About you

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong experience in LGPS or defined benefit (DB) pension administration
  • Good understanding of admission agreements, bonds, and TUPE processes
  • Ability to interpret and explain complex pension regulations clearly
  • Experience working with multiple stakeholders including legal and actuarial professionals
  • Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage competing deadlines
  • High attention to detail with a focus on compliance and risk management
  • Excellent communication skills and a proactive, solution-focused approach
