Job Details

Work Pattern: Monday to Friday, 5 days per week.

PAYE Pay Rate: £350.00 per day

Main Purpose

Lead the development and delivery of complex, high-value highways, transport, public realm and active travel programmes. The role will manage projects through the full lifecycle, from business case and feasibility through to procurement and implementation, while managing budgets, risks, stakeholders and governance.

Typical Day

  • Lead major highways, transport, public realm and active travel projects.
  • Manage projects from inception, feasibility and design through to delivery.
  • Develop business cases, project plans, risk registers and governance reports.
  • Manage capital budgets, funding allocations and financial forecasts.
  • Coordinate multidisciplinary teams, consultants and contractors.
  • Lead stakeholder engagement with Members, senior officers, TfL, government bodies and communities.
  • Prepare reports and recommendations for senior officers, Cabinet Members and committees.
  • Resolve complex delivery, funding, technical and stakeholder issues.
  • Monitor programme performance, risks, dependencies and timescales.
  • Provide professional leadership and mentoring to Project Managers.

Essential Requirements

  • Significant experience delivering complex major capital infrastructure, highways, transport, public realm or regeneration projects.
  • Experience working within a local authority, public sector or similarly complex environment.
  • Experience managing substantial capital budgets and externally funded programmes.
  • Experience working with Members, senior officers and external stakeholders.
  • Experience managing consultants, contractors and multidisciplinary teams.
  • Strong understanding of project/programme management, governance and risk.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation and influencing skills.
  • Strong financial and commercial management skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management software.
