Homelessness Prevention Officer
We are looking for an experienced Homelessness Prevention Officer to join a growing team supporting individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage a caseload of homelessness and housing prevention cases.
- Carry out detailed housing options and support needs assessments using a person-centred approach.
- Take appropriate action to prevent and relieve homelessness.
- Make statutory homelessness determinations in line with the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Apply knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Work with accommodation providers, Community Safety teams and other internal and external partners.
- Support individuals and families with multiple and complex vulnerabilities.
- Use a trauma-informed approach when working with vulnerable households.
- Work across both the Homelessness Advice and Social Inclusion teams to deliver effective homelessness prevention.
Requirements:
- Experience working in a homelessness/housing options environment.
- Strong working knowledge of Part 7 of the Housing Act 1996 and the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
- Experience managing a caseload and undertaking homelessness assessments.
- Experience making statutory homelessness decisions.
- Strong communication and partnership-working skills.
- Ability to work effectively with vulnerable people and complex cases.
- A person-centred and trauma-informed approach.
