Housing Advice and Options Manager
Location: North Northamptonshire (multi-site)
Salary: Band 9 (DOE)
Reports to: Head of Housing Solutions
Role overview
You will lead and manage the Council’s Housing Advice and Options service, ensuring the effective prevention and relief of homelessness. The role focuses on delivering high-quality, legally compliant services, reducing the use of temporary accommodation, and improving outcomes for residents through early intervention and partnership working.
Key responsibilities
- Lead the delivery and performance of the Housing Advice and Options service, ensuring compliance with homelessness legislation and guidance
- Drive early intervention and prevention activity to reduce homelessness and demand for temporary accommodation
- Manage and develop a team of managers and officers, ensuring high performance and positive outcomes
- Oversee homelessness casework, triage processes, and service standards
- Monitor KPIs, analyse performance data, and implement service improvements
- Manage budgets and ensure effective use of resources
- Develop and maintain strong partnerships with internal services and external agencies
- Contribute to and deliver homelessness strategies, policies, and service transformation initiatives
- Provide expert advice to senior leadership and elected members
- Lead on funding bids, projects, and service innovation
About you
- Strong experience managing homelessness, housing advice, or housing options services within a local authority or similar setting
- In-depth knowledge of homelessness legislation and best practice
- Proven leadership and team management skills
- Experience of improving service performance and managing budgets
- Strong communication, stakeholder engagement, and partnership working skills
- Strategic thinker with the ability to deliver operational results
Requirements
- Degree or equivalent experience in housing or related field
- Evidence of continued professional development
- Full UK driving licence and willingness to travel
