DUTIES –

To understand the challenges and complexities around homelessness today, the impact that homelessness has on families and single people, and have a commitment to addressing housing issues and reducing homelessness

To provide an effective, professional service on behalf of the Council including offering a full range of advice on housing options in the private and public sector and ensure comprehensive homelessness prevention service
To provide an effective, professional homelessness service on behalf of the Council including assessment and investigation of homeless approached and applications
To develop, update and review Personalised Housing Plan for customers on behalf of the council in light of the Homelessness Reduction Act 2017.
To drive the Council’s reduction of temporary accommodation expenditure by ensuring that all other avenues are explored and clients are diverted away from its use.
To lead on the collation of the data information for the Department for Communities and Local Government, thereby assisting the government in its work to capture the true picture of homelessness and its impact on society
This position is fundamental to the provision of services to vulnerable customers who may approach the Council for assistance through the Children’s Act, the Care Act and all relevant housing legislation
To take proactive steps to prevent and resolve crisis across the housing, health and social care agendas
To make high quality, timely and accurate homeless decisions, making appropriate referrals to other services where a housing duty may not be owed or is coming to an end.
