Job Title: Housing Officer (Housing Management)
💼 Job Purpose
To deliver an effective housing management service, managing a portfolio of properties and tenancies. You will ensure properties are let efficiently, tenancies are sustained, and all tenancy-related matters are handled in line with policy and legislation.
🔑 Key Responsibilities
🏡 Tenancy Management
- Manage a patch of residential properties and tenants
- Act as the main point of contact for tenant queries and issues
- Ensure tenants comply with tenancy agreements
- Support tenancy sustainment and address breaches where required
🔑 Lettings & Void Management
- Manage property lettings from allocation through to sign-up
- Complete tenancy sign-ups and ensure all documentation is accurate
- Work to minimise void periods and ensure properties are re-let quickly
- Liaise with internal teams to prepare properties for new tenants
🚪 Tenancy Terminations
- Process tenancy terminations in line with procedures
- Conduct or arrange end-of-tenancy inspections
- Ensure properties are left in acceptable condition
- Coordinate works required before re-letting
💰 Financial & Administrative Duties
- Raise and process invoices relating to property management and repairs
- Identify and raise recharges where tenants are responsible for damage or costs
- Maintain accurate records of all financial transactions and tenancy activity
🛠️ Repairs & Maintenance
- Report and follow up on repairs and maintenance issues
- Liaise with contractors and internal teams to ensure timely completion of works
- Monitor service delivery and quality of repairs
⚖️ Compliance & Enforcement
- Address breaches of tenancy, including anti-social behaviour where applicable
- Ensure all actions comply with housing policies and relevant legislation
- Maintain accurate case notes and documentation
🧠 Skills & Experience Required
Essential
- Experience in housing management / tenancy management
- Knowledge of property lettings and tenancy terminations
- Experience processing invoices and raising recharges
- Strong administrative and organisational skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and prioritise workload
Desirable
- Experience working within a local authority or housing association
- Knowledge of housing legislation and best practice
- Experience dealing with tenant disputes or anti-social behaviour
