Job Title: Housing Options Officer – Homelessness

Reporting to: Housing Options Team Leader

About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Housing Options Officer to join our team, supporting individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality housing advice service, helping customers explore their options and secure suitable accommodation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assess homelessness applications, conduct interviews, and manage cases from initial contact through to resolution
  • Provide advice on housing options, preventing homelessness wherever possible
  • Make informed decisions in line with housing legislation and council policies
  • Arrange temporary accommodation and support customers into long-term housing
  • Work collaboratively with internal teams, landlords, and external agencies
  • Support vulnerable customers, advocating on their behalf where needed
  • Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reporting and service improvement

About You

  • Experience working in a customer-facing or housing-related role
  • Strong communication and interviewing skills
  • Ability to manage a varied caseload and make sound decisions
  • Knowledge or understanding of homelessness and housing legislation (desirable)
  • A proactive, empathetic, and resilient approach
