Job Title: Housing Options Officer – Homelessness
Department: Development & Regeneration – Community Housing Services
Reporting to: Housing Options Team Leader
About the Role
We are looking for a motivated and customer-focused Housing Options Officer to join our team, supporting individuals and families who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. You will play a key role in delivering a high-quality housing advice service, helping customers explore their options and secure suitable accommodation.
Key Responsibilities
- Assess homelessness applications, conduct interviews, and manage cases from initial contact through to resolution
- Provide advice on housing options, preventing homelessness wherever possible
- Make informed decisions in line with housing legislation and council policies
- Arrange temporary accommodation and support customers into long-term housing
- Work collaboratively with internal teams, landlords, and external agencies
- Support vulnerable customers, advocating on their behalf where needed
- Maintain accurate case records and contribute to reporting and service improvement
About You
- Experience working in a customer-facing or housing-related role
- Strong communication and interviewing skills
- Ability to manage a varied caseload and make sound decisions
- Knowledge or understanding of homelessness and housing legislation (desirable)
- A proactive, empathetic, and resilient approach
