Job Title: Maintenance Manager
Location: Milton Keynes
Contract: 6-month FTC (sickness cover, potential to extend)
Hours: 37.5 per week (8am–4pm, Monday–Friday)
Working Pattern: Office-based initially (5 days), potential for 1 day WFH after onboarding

Overview

We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to oversee the safe, compliant, and effective maintenance of a diverse property portfolio. This role is responsible for ensuring all buildings meet statutory compliance requirements while delivering high-quality maintenance services through internal teams and external contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure all properties meet health & safety and statutory compliance standards (e.g. gas, electrical, fire safety, asbestos, water hygiene)
  • Manage and monitor contractors, ensuring works are delivered on time, within budget, and to required standards
  • Oversee responsive and planned maintenance (PPM) activities
  • Carry out site inspections to assess works, risks, and compliance
  • Manage compliance records and certification across the portfolio
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and financial tracking of maintenance spend
  • Lead on maintenance-related projects and improvements
  • Use CAFM systems to track performance, jobs, and compliance

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a Maintenance / Facilities / Estates Manager role
  • Strong knowledge of M&E (Mechanical & Electrical) services
  • Experience managing statutory compliance (e.g. asbestos, legionella, fire safety)
  • Background in contractor and contract management
  • Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations (e.g. CDM 2015)
  • Relevant qualification (e.g. NEBOSH, IOSH, or equivalent experience)
  • Full UK driving licence (site travel required)
