Job Summary
We are looking for a skilled and reliable Gardener to carry out grounds maintenance work across council estates. The role involves maintaining grassed areas, shrub beds, and communal green spaces to a high standard, ensuring outdoor environments are clean, safe, and well-presented for residents.
A full, valid driving licence is essential, as travel between multiple sites is required.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain grassed areas including mowing, strimming, and edging
- Care for shrub beds through weeding, pruning, and seasonal maintenance
- Carry out planting and general horticultural work as required
- Remove litter and keep communal outdoor areas tidy
- Operate gardening tools and equipment safely and responsibly
- Carry out seasonal duties such as leaf clearance and planting schemes
- Drive between council estate sites using company vehicles
- Report any hazards, damages, or maintenance issues
Essential Requirements
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
- Experience in gardening or grounds maintenance
- Ability to use basic horticultural tools and machinery
- Able to work outdoors in all weather conditions
- Good understanding of health and safety practices
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Desirable Skills
- Experience working in public spaces or council estates
- Knowledge of plants, shrubs, and general horticulture
- Pesticide application certificates (PA1/PA6) – desirable but not essential
