About the Role

As a Disrepair Case Officer, you will manage housing disrepair complaints and legal claims from initial report through to resolution. You will work closely with surveyors, contractors, legal services, and residents to ensure cases are handled efficiently, fairly, and in line with council procedures.

Your work will help prevent escalation to legal proceedings, reduce costs, and improve housing conditions for residents.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage and resolve housing disrepair cases to avoid litigation where possible
  • Coordinate and monitor repair works with contractors and surveyors
  • Prepare and submit case information for legal proceedings when required
  • Track case progress, costs, risks, and provide updates to managers
  • Respond to complaints, including Ombudsman and Stage 2 cases
  • Ensure residents are kept informed throughout the process
  • Support court proceedings and represent the council when necessary

About You

We are looking for someone who can demonstrate:

  • Experience handling complex cases, complaints, or housing-related issues
  • Strong communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to manage contractors and monitor performance
  • Good understanding of risk, compliance, and problem-solving
  • Confidence working with legal and formal processes

You should be organised, resilient, and able to manage a busy and varied workload while maintaining a strong focus on customer service and outcomes.
