Location: Shute End, Wokingham, Berkshire, RG40 1BN, United Kingdom

Work Pattern: Carry out face to face assessments in schools and settings reports written at home, 37 hours a week

PAYE Pay Rate: £468.20 per day

Main Purpose of the Role

To support the Local Authority in meeting its statutory SEND duties by completing high-quality Educational Psychology advice and Education, Health and Care Needs Assessments (EHCNAs) within required timescales.

Typical Day Overview

  • Complete allocated EHC needs assessments.
  • Meet with children and young people face-to-face where appropriate.
  • Liaise with parents, carers, schools and other professionals.
  • Gather and analyse information to understand educational needs.
  • Prepare clear and concise psychological advice and reports.
  • Complete reports within the required five-week timescale.
  • Submit reports for quality assurance.
  • Manage your own caseload and work to agreed deadlines.
  • Work across schools, homes and council offices as required.

Key Responsibilities & Skills

  • Complete statutory EHC needs assessments.
  • Provide evidence-based psychological advice.
  • Assess children’s educational needs and barriers to learning.
  • Produce analytical, outcome-focused reports.
  • Work effectively with parents, schools and multi-agency professionals.
  • Manage a caseload independently and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate records and use IT systems effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Safeguard and promote the welfare of children and young people.

Essential Qualifications & Requirements

  • Postgraduate qualification in Educational Psychology.
  • At least 2 years’ post-qualification experience as a practicing Educational Psychologist.
  • Strong experience completing EHC needs assessments.
  • Ability to write clear, concise and analytical psychological advice.
  • Good knowledge of evidence-based assessment and practice.
  • Strong IT, communication and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage statutory assessment caseloads.
  • Clean driving license and access to a car for work purposes.
  • Enhanced DBS clearance for working with children.
  • Ability to work flexibly across home, school and office settings.
