PAYE Pay Rate: £27.66 per hour

Work Pattern: Hybrid Working – Once a week in the office plus visits to see families re-assessing

 

Main Purpose of the Role

To provide professional social work support to children and families, with a particular focus on assessing family members and connected adults who may be able to care for children. The role will involve completing Viability, Special Guardian and Connected Carer Assessments, identifying strengths, risks and support needs, and ensuring all recommendations are based on the child’s safety, welfare and best interests. The Social Worker will work closely with children, families and other professionals to provide thorough assessments and support appropriate care planning and decision-making.

Typical Day Overview

  • Complete Viability, Special Guardian and Connected Carer Assessments.
  • Visit and assess children, parents and potential kinship carers.
  • Gather information and complete detailed assessments and reports.
  • Work closely with families, children and other professionals.
  • Identify risks, strengths and support needs.
  • Attend meetings and contribute to care planning and decision-making.
  • Maintain accurate case records and meet statutory timescales.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Strong experience working with children and families.
  • Ability to complete all types of Kinship Assessments.
  • Strong assessment, analysis and report-writing skills.
  • Good communication and relationship-building skills.
  • Ability to identify safeguarding concerns and manage risk.
  • Effective multi-agency working.
  • Ability to manage a caseload and meet deadlines.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential records.

Essential Requirements / Qualifications

  • Minimum 3 years’ experience as a permanent Social Worker.
  • Proven experience working with children and families.
  • Direct experience completing:
    • Viability Assessments
    • Special Guardian Assessments
    • Connected Career Assessments
  • Social Work qualification.
  • Registered with Social Care Wales / relevant UK Social Work regulator.
  • Strong knowledge of safeguarding and children’s social care legislation.
  • Generic fostering experience alone is not sufficient.
  • Enhanced DBS
