PAYE Pay Rate: £25.00 per hour

Main Purpose of the Role

To manage the Council’s fleet, transport operations and depots, ensuring vehicles, staff and services meet legal, safety and operational requirements.

Typical Day Overview

  • Manage fleet and technical teams.
  • Ensure O License and DVSA/VOSA compliance.
  • Oversee vehicle maintenance and safety.
  • Manage depots, buildings and equipment.
  • Lead Health & Safety across the service.
  • Manage staff, budgets and contractors.
  • Monitor performance, risks and service standards.
  • Lead service improvements and efficiency projects.
  • Provide reports and advice to senior managers and elected members.

Key Skills / Responsibilities

  • Strong fleet/transport management experience.
  • Excellent knowledge of fleet legislation and compliance.
  • Experience managing an O License.
  • Strong leadership and people management skills.
  • Budget and resource management experience.
  • Good Health & Safety and risk management knowledge.
  • Strong communication and influencing skills.
  • Experience managing contractors and suppliers.

Essential Requirements

  • Essential: CPC / Transport Manager qualification.
  • Essential: O License / Transport Manager experience.
  • Relevant professional qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Significant fleet management experience.
  • Experience managing staff and budgets.
  • Knowledge of vehicle and fleet legislation.
  • Strong planning and organizational skills.
  • Driving License is essential
