Job Details

Work Pattern: 2 days in office and 3 days remote, 37.5 a week

PAYE Pay Rate: £172.57 per day

Main Purpose of the Role

To inspect and monitor street and road works across Slough, ensuring compliance with highway legislation, permit conditions and safety requirements while minimising disruption to traffic.

Typical Day

  • Inspecting utility and highway works.
  • Checking permits and compliance with NRSWA, TMA and SEPS.
  • Identifying defects and issuing defect notices.
  • Monitoring works and Section 74 overruns.
  • Liaising with contractors, utility companies, Police and the public.
  • Responding to enquiries and complaints.
  • Supporting Fixed Penalty Notices and enforcement.
  • Maintaining records and preparing reports.

Key Skills & Responsibilities

  • Knowledge of street works and highway legislation.
  • Strong inspection and attention-to-detail skills.
  • Ability to identify defects and non-compliance.
  • Good communication and stakeholder management.
  • Accurate record keeping and report writing.
  • Ability to manage workloads and meet deadlines.
  • Good IT and administrative skills.
  • Understanding of health and safety requirements.

Essential Requirements

  • Experience in highways, street works, traffic management or a related environment.
  • Knowledge of NRSWA, TMA and permit schemes.
  • Good communication and customer service skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Relevant NRSWA/Street Works qualification desirable.
  • Full UK driving license may be required.
  • Basic DBS required
